What to Expect on Sundays
Here's what a typical Sunday morning looks like in 5 steps.
Arrive
We’d love to welcome you to our Sunday service, which begins at 10:00 am. Feel free to come a little early and enjoy a cup of coffee starting at 9:30 am! Our time together usually wraps up around 11:15 am. Come just as you are—there’s no dress code here. Whether you’re in jeans, sneakers, or your Sunday best, you’re warmly welcomed. We gather for worship at Azalea Station (1502 Castle Street). You’ll find a small parking lot off 15th Street, plus plenty of street parking nearby on 15th and Queen Streets. When you arrive, head to the main entrance by the small parking lot off 15th Street. A friendly face will be there to greet you!
Welcome
When you step into our worship space, you’ll be warmly greeted and handed a worship guide. This little guide has everything you’ll need to follow along and feel right at home during the service. We’d love for you to make a name tag—it’s a simple way we can greet each other personally and get to know one another by name. You’ll also find coffee and water waiting for you, and restrooms are conveniently located near the entrance. We’re so glad you’re here, and we want you to feel comfortable every step of the way!
Have Kids?
When you arrive, one of our friendly volunteers will be at the Kids’ Ministry check-in table, ready to help get your children signed in and settled. We offer two warm and caring nursery spaces each week – one for our littlest ones (4 months-23 months) and another for toddlers (2-4 years).
During the school year, we also have two DPC Kids classes – one for Kindergarten through 2nd grade, and another for 3rd through 5th grade. These classes head out during the Passing of the Peace and rejoin us just before communion begins.
In the summer, children who are in kindergarten and older are invited to worship alongside their families. We also provide fun worship activity bags for the kids.
We’re so glad to have your whole family with us!
Worship Service
At Downtown Presbyterian Church, we love gathering to worship God together—it’s the heart of our community. Each week, our service includes joyful singing (you’ll hear both modern worship songs and beloved historic hymns), the reading of Scripture, meaningful prayers and creeds from the Church’s rich history, teaching from the Bible, and the celebration of communion. It’s a time to be refreshed, encouraged, and reminded of God’s grace—whether you’re exploring faith or have been walking with Jesus for years, there’s a place for you here.
Get Connected
We can’t wait to meet you when you arrive for worship! During the service, we take a moment for the Passing of the Peace—a warm time to greet one another and share a smile or handshake. After the service, Pastor Jay is usually by the main entrance and would love the chance to say hello and get to know you a bit more. If you’re interested in learning more about DPC, feel free to stop by the Welcome Table. You’ll find connect cards and visitor packets there—just a simple way to share your name and let us know how we can help you feel at home.
