CORE VALUES
Here's What We Value as a Church
The core values of any organization reflect who it is and what it believes.
JESUS & ONE ANOTHER
Whether you have grown up in church your whole life or Christianity is new to you, we want you to see and know the person of Jesus—His humility, His beauty, and His sacrifice. There is nothing better than knowing Christ! We think that knowing Christ leads to knowing one another. In our differences and similarities, genuine community comes through Christ!
BEAUTIFUL WORSHIP
We believe that worship is formative for all of life. God has graciously given us one day of the week to be strengthened by His grace together in worship. The songs we sing, the call and response flow of our services, and taking the sacrament of communion together weekly, unite us with each other and with Jesus. Our services include traditional and modern elements.
CULTIVATING LEADERS
We are a church on mission and believe that God is using our diversity to bless our city and church community. We are committed to cultivating leaders within our church for the sake of the gospel and the betterment of our city. We want to create space to talk about faith and work, invest in next generation leadership, and establish programs that will enable people to grow as leaders with purpose, together.
SPIRITUAL FORMATION
Spiritual formation (or Christian discipleship) is commanded in the Scriptures and is a blessing to each one of us. We want our members to grow in their intimacy with God, and to better understand their personal mission, gifting, and story of grace. Our hope is that we would live by the presence of the Spirit and see ourselves as stewards of all that God has given to us.
Mercy, Justice, & Missions
The Scriptures call us to mercy, justice, and missions (locally and globally). This happens within the church, within our city, and across the world. We desire to care for our members as needs arise, invest in the places of our city that are often forgotten, love the least of these, and continually grow in our understanding of biblical justice. This requires humility and intentionality. This is driven by the gospel, not by political affiliation or cultural pressures on either side.
Our Church Culture
Though every church shares the essentials of the Christian faith, each local church has distinct characteristics, a culture.
BELIEFS
Our Church's Statement of Faith
While the Bible is our only infallible rule of faith and practice, we are also committed—and accountable—to a specific statement of faith that represents a summary of the teaching of Holy Scripture.
The Holy Bible
Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
